Instruction and Concept Checking

As a TESOL instructor, I feel that Instruction Checking Questions (ICQs) and Concept Checking Questions (CCQs) are crucial when teaching new language teachers. They can make or break a lesson.
Most of the questions I ask usually fall into these 2 categories.
I am not very clear when setting instructions for a task, so when I usually check the instructions it is no wonder why my ICQs go unanswered.
The same can be said for checking understanding of a concept I have just spent time on in class. I find that the fall back question is “do you understand?” Not so effective.
I have spent time researching this because I want to improve. Recently I have put together some materials and recording for a teacher at the school I work for to lead a workshop. I hope it goose well.
Here are some of the materials for

Let me know what you think. Also, is there anyone else out there who struggles the same way I do with this? What strategies do you use?
