In our new norm of remote work and isolation, the opportunities for professional development and idea sharing you’d once found around the photocopier or in the lunchroom are hard to come by.
To help us educators connect for personal growth, professional development, and to expand our professional network, we will be offering Connect Ed (CEd) sessions, which are a great solution for bringing us all together while we’re so far apart.
What is it?
ConnectEd Sessions are 4 facilitated virtual meetings of 10 educators for the purposes of connecting with other educators while sharing in their development and learning. Meetings will take place on zoom each week on the same day at the same time for 4 weeks.
Who can join?
ConnectEd groups are made up of educators from all disciplines from around the world. If you’re a high school teacher, a tutor, a parent homeschooling your child, and ESL teacher, a post-secondary instructor, or a trainer, you are welcome to join. The only prerequisite is a passion for life-long learning and personal growth.
How can you join?
Click the event registration link below to be directed to an events page. Monthly events have been scheduled, but be sure to register early as there are limited seats. Groups are small by design.
What is a session like?
Sessions are discussion based in a “no-pressure” environment. It is an open-space to discuss problems, set goals, look at our current states, brainstorm options, and figure out a way forward. Through peer-coaching, everyone will leave with a new perspective. You will build relationships with other educators and get out of it what you put into it.
Who is the host?
Shawna Cole has been training and coaching teachers for more than 20 years. Her experience includes the public and private sectors and corporate training. She has a passion for creating engaging educational experiences, leadership, and coaching.
What are the benefits?
Researchers have found a link between happiness and helping others at work. As a result of these sessions, you will be happier and feel more supported in the challenges you are facing as an educator. Our goal is to form a community of educators who are passionate about helping each other grow.
